What is Edge X Foundry and why use it?
Edge X Foundry is the future. Edge X Foundry is a versatile, flexible, open source Cloud software with plug and play architecture to enable you to utilize the variety of components already created and to customize or create your own components as you need them.
Edge X Foundry
- Is the software that communicates between the physical IoT devices and sensors, with Enterprise data storage, enterprise analytics, and intelligence engines
- Collects data from “south side” devices and sensors
- Provides a small amount of intelligence or analytics (rule engines, CEP, limited machine learning) at the edge to provide early edge)detection and warning capability
- Transforms and packages data for “north side” Enterprise systems and services
- Is a microservice-based architecture that enables third parties (partners, vendors, customers, and so forth) to provide, replace, or augment their own solutions within the stack
At this time, other companies' and groups' open source projects exist that are targeting the Internet of Things (IoT). Why use Edge X Foundry and what are the advantages?
